2018 WIC Week

WIC week is designed to increase the visibility of women working in the construction industry, share our passion and encourage others to join the construction industry and NAWIC.

This year WIC Week was held March 4th - March 10th. We had several events starting out with helping out at Food for Lane County and a social event at Sweet Cheeks Tasting Room at 5th Street Public Market. Many guests joined us for wine tasting, hors d'oeuvres and fabulous conversations!

This event encourages and promotes construction to students in grades 1st through 6th. The contest is held on the local, regional and then national level. Students are provided with identical kits of material and given 45 minutes to build something pertaining to construction using their imagination. They are judged on the construction of their project and their verbal explanation of their project.

The 2018 event was held on Saturday, February 3rd at Emerald Road Park. Sixty-five kids participated in the event.

Sponsored by:
The National Association of Women in Construction
Eugene Science Center
River Road Parks & Recreation

The CAD/Design/Drafting Competition is a contest designed for senior high students. The contest provides recognition to students for creative design, successful problem solving and craftsmanship in preparing architectural drawings.

Entries are evaluated for detail, accuracy and originality of work. Objectives of the contest are to introduce the student to the construction industry in a positive and challenging manner, while fostering a sense of self worth and building confidence.
