Novemer 14th - NAWIC Hands-On Welding
Please join us on the 2nd Wednesday of every month for dinner and program followed by a brief business meeting.
Our November meeting is a hands-on welding experience at WW NDT Services & Welding School. All attendees need to sign a waiver, wear long sleeves, boots, and jeans. Bring a bandana for your head also. There is a parking lot and if full you can park on the street.
Please join us after the tour for dinner. Location TBD. When you RSVP please let us know if you will be attending tour and dinner or just the tour.
Guests are invited to intend. This is a great way to meet our members and get to know them.

NAWIC Eugene Chapter #77 Annual Golf Tournament" was September 21st at Diamond Woods Golf Course, Monroe, Oregon. All proceeds from our tournament will benefit our scholarship and education programs. Thank you golfers, sponsors and NAWIC volunteers for helping to make this a big success.
The NAWIC Eugene Chapter #77 participated in the Women Build 2018 event on May 5, 2018 for Habitat for Humanity. The house we worked on was in Harrisburg, Oregon. The work crew was headed up by Eugene chapter member, Karen Jones with Double Eagle Design & Construction. She said they got a lot done and everyone had a great time helping out. Lowe's sponsored the day and donated to the project.
WIC week is designed to increase the visibility of women working in the construction industry, share our passion and encourage others to join the construction industry and NAWIC.
This year WIC Week was held March 4th - March 10th. We had several events starting out with helping out at Food for Lane County and a social event at Sweet Cheeks Tasting Room at 5th Street Public Market. Many guests joined us for wine tasting, hors d'oeuvres and fabulous conversations!
This event encourages and promotes construction to students in grades 1st through 6th. The contest is held on the local, regional and then national level. Students are provided with identical kits of material and given 45 minutes to build something pertaining to construction using their imagination. They are judged on the construction of their project and their verbal explanation of their project.
The 2019 event will be Saturday, February 9rd at Emerald Road Park. Registration will again be at the Eugene Science Center starting in January. Details will be posted later.

River Road Parks & Recreation
The CAD/Design/Drafting Competition is a contest designed for senior high students. The contest provides recognition to students for creative design, successful problem solving and craftsmanship in preparing architectural drawings.
Entries are evaluated for detail, accuracy and originality of work. Objectives of the contest are to introduce the student to the construction industry in a positive and challenging manner, while fostering a sense of self worth and building confidence.
This is a one day Saturday event during the winter months or early spring where all the Oregon NAWIC members attend a retreat at a facility on the Oregon Coast. Invited also are all the chapters in the Pacific NW Region. There are a variety of activities that allow the members of all chapters to meet and get to know one another. It's a fun and relaxing retreat for all!
The 2018 event was held on February 23rd - 24th in Lincoln City at the Chinook Winds Casino Resort. It was hosted by NAWIC Salem Chapter #198. Retreat was a weekend of fellowship, learning, and networking and to exchange ideas with colleagues, make some new friends and have some fun!
Pacific Northwest Region Fall Conference
This conference is an annual event that is held in each NAWIC Region. It is a two day meeting that includes business sessions, speakers and seminars. The focus of the speakers and seminars are on personal, professional and construction topics. Every two years each region elects a new Director.
The 2018 conference was held on October 12th-13th in San Jose, California.
Pacific Northwest Region Forum
Each NAWIC region holds an annual forum each spring. Members of the region will meet to conduct regional business, elect a regional NAWIC Director to represent them at the national level and attend and participate in several educational and professional seminars and workshops.
The 2018 was held in Salem, Oregon April 19th-21st. There were seminars for professional development and networking. Presentations include a silica safety update, Procore project management software demo, BlueBeam demo, and Life as a Woman Welder. The keynote speaker was Sonia Miller, BBA, MSW. Her presentation was on helping us find the blind spots that prevent us from achieving success.
NAWIC Annual Meeting & Educational Conference
NAWIC's Annual Meeting & Educational Conference is held in a different city in the United States each year. The conference includes business sessions, speakers, workshops and seminars. It affords members an opportunity to network with other NAWIC members from across the country.
The 2018 annual meeting was held in Orlando, Florida on August 15th-18th. This year’s conference offered exciting new changes, with more education, activities and networking opportunities than ever before. The 2 ½ day conference is designed for all women in construction, NAWIC members and non- members alike.
Construction and Utilities Career Day events are designed to introduce high school students to the vast career opportunities and unlimited potential for advancement within the construction and utility trades. The events are about Youth, Industry and Partnership.
The 2018 CUCD event was held on September 27, 2018 at the former EWEB Riverfront Property in downtown Eugene. Up to 450 students from 18 high schools attended. There were many exhibitor booths, hands on activities and heavy equipment for the students to run in a controlled environment with skilled operators. Students were exposed to a wide range of opportunities in the construction and utilities industry. This event is sponsored by Lane Education Service District. NAWIC Eugene Chapter #77 is participated in the event.
