WIC week is designed to increase the visibility of women working in the construction industry, share our passion and encourage others to join the construction industry and NAWIC.
This year WIC Week was March 5th - March 11th. We had several events that week which included helping out at Food for Lane County, tour of the newly remodeled Eugene Airport and a NAWIC Memberhip Night at Elkhorn Brewery.
This event encourages and promotes construction to students in grades 1st through 6th. The contest is held on the local, regional and then national level. Students are provided with identical kits of material and given 45 minutes to build something pertaining to construction using their imagination. They are judged on the construction of their project and their verbal explanation of their project.
The 2017 event was held on February 4th at Emerald Road Park. Over 60 kids participated in the event. The Grand Prize winner of the competition was a first grader and he built a wreching ball. Thanks to all our judges from the construction community.
The CAD/Design/Drafting Competition is a contest designed for senior high students. The contest provides recognition to students for creative design, successful problem solving and craftsmanship in preparing architectural drawings.
Entries are evaluated for detail, accuracy and originality of work. Objectives of the contest are to introduce the student to the construction industry in a positive and challenging manner, while fostering a sense of self worth and building confidence.
